JAMES GODWIN

A true Memphis original, James Godwin made a name for himself touring & recording with notable regional artists such as garage rock legend Jack Oblivian, legendary Southern musician Jimbo Mathus, and many more. In 2012, Godwin branched out on his own with a blazing quartet known as James and The Ultrasounds. With The Ultrasounds, Godwin released two albums for Memphis label Madjack Records, as well as a pair of 7’ singles for budding Memphis label Misspent Records. The Ultrasounds would repeatedly tour the U.S. and Europe, quickly building a reputation for their high energy performances and authentic Memphis sound, led by Godwin’s ability to effortlessly blend and bend his way through multiple styles such as blues,country,punk,soul,surf and beyond. Godwin spent 2023 living in NYC, absorbing new sounds and showbiz tricks from the entertainers and performers he’d encounter in the Big Apple. After a year away, Godwin returned to Memphis, armed with a new album’s worth of new material. His first proper solo full length is set for release in the Fall/Winter of 2025, with many new singles being released along the way.
