A true Memphis,Tennessee original, James Godwin first made a name for himself touring & recording with notable artists such as garage rock legend Jack Oblivian, legendary Southern U.S. musician Jimbo Mathus, and many more. In 2014, Godwin formed his own band, a blazing quartet known as James and The Ultrasounds. With The Ultrasounds, Godwin released two full length albums,numerous singles and would repeatedly tour the U.S. and Europe. He is known for his authentic Memphis sound, Southern charm, and a natural ability to entertain and bend his way through multiple styles of music to create his own which he calls “Southern Fried-Ass Soul Country Music.” As a solo artist, he continues to tour and release music, mostly playing and recording all of the instruments himself. Fresh off of an extensive European tour which included opening sold out shows for Jon Spencer, Godwin now resides in NYC, as he works on his first official full length solo album.
