A true Memphis original, James Godwin made a name for himself touring & recording with notable regional artists such as garage rock legend Jack Oblivian, legendary Southern musician Jimbo Mathus, and many more. In 2012, Godwin branched out on his own with a blazing quartet known as James and The Ultrasounds. With The Ultrasounds, Godwin released two albums for Memphis label Madjack Records, as well as a pair of 7’ singles for budding Memphis label Misspent Records. The Ultrasounds would repeatedly tour the U.S. and Europe, quickly building a reputation for their high energy performances and authentic Memphis sound, led by Godwin’s ability to blend and bend his way through multiple styles such as blues,country,punk,soul,surf and beyond.
